Yaris Stalling Issue

Hi all,

New to the forum, hope im posting this in the right area :)

I have recently purchased a 2007 Yaris with the 1.3L engine. it has 115000kms on it.

In the first few days of ownership, it drove fine, i was driving last night and noticed the revs drop a little then stall. I started the car again and took it for a drive to find it not able to accelerate over 40km/h.

Ive had a search on the forums and found a few opinions, but couldnt find many people who actually had a resolution.

Ia anyone able to chime in?

Im a little mechanically minded, so i was thinking of doing the plugs, air filter and cleaning the MAF and throttle body tonight and seeing how it goes.

Is the check engine light on? I would think that would throw some kind of code. OBDII code readers are very cheap now, if you don't have one. Some auto parts chains (like Autozone in the US) read codes for free, so that might be an option to look into.

Bit of an update, i scanned for codes with a reader that also does live data - nothing abnormal showed up.

Booked it in with the mechanic to look at it and got a call today saying nothing abnormal they could see, but they changed the fuel filter and it was pretty munched - full of crap etc, i'll be picking up the car tomorrow and they have said they'll show me the filter when i come in :)

Will provide more feedback when i get it back

Isn't the fuel filter in the fuel tank and not serviceable?

Filter is in the tank with the pump and can be accessed. Just not a simple every day task.
