New Projector Issues
Okay so I just bought the Spyder Black Projector Headlights with an 8000K HID KIT pre-installed. Got everythign hooked up and the leds, halos work perfectly, and inside headlights both work but when I hit my brights only one of them lights up bright and the other one goes completely dark. Also the projector lights do not fire up.
Has anyone else had this issue? Any recommendations for how to fix? I bought the set off of ebay (probably should of known better), so I guess that is what i get. I am waiting to here back from the seller but I was hoping someone else might have some suggestions in case I don't hear back from them. One person i talked to said that I probably wasn;t getting enough power to them and someone else said i should put a fuse on each line from each ballast or else it will fry my wires or fusebox. Anyways, any advice would be much appreciated. Pictures show the headlights on with projectors not on and the result of turning the brights on, which is that the ppassenger side headlight goes dark while the other one lights up. Thank you in advance for your suggestions.

SO are the highs DRls? Do they come on when the car comes on? Also, did oyu make sure the HIDs worked before you put the lights on the car?

check the fuses for the high beams
check to make sure the bulb isnt burnt out in the passenger high beam check to make sure the wiring at the stock plug is still plugged in properly check to make sure that the bulb still has both clips attached (at the h1 bulb)

Thanks for responding...I disabled my DRLs a long time ago, so I don't think that would be the issue. I did not try them before installing them as the wiring I had to connect from my parkers was very short so i just went ahead and installed them completely.

I checked all of those things already, except the bulb being burnt out because the same bulbs for regular headlights is the high beam bulb and it works when the high beam is turned off. I also tried switching the positive and negative whires as I heard that sometimes cars have reversed polarity, but that didn't work either.

arent the hid's hooked up to the projectors?
in your pics it looks like you have the high beams on (which i believe are now h1 bulbs). do the lights in pic1 run as the drl's now?

Yes, HIDs are hooked up to the projectors. The highbeams are only on in the second photo. When I have DRLs on it only lights up the halos and leds which is how I want it, the inside headlights (not the projectors) come on when i turn on the headlights (second light setting).

How are the headlights wired up to the car? Did the HIDs and the lights utilise the stock plug or did you have to splice everything?

On some aftermarket lights you need to clock the H4/9003 connector differently. This sometimes means remove the wire from one socket and install it in another socket.

I used the stock plug. I am going to get into the lights tonight and see what I can figure out. Thanks for everyone's advise, I am going to try these suggestions and see what happens.

It could also be that the harness they provide doesn't have a starter relay. Some cars you can get away with that but on the Yaris you need the extra relay harness to give you enough power to turn the lights on. If you want to test this theory, try revving the engine in neutral so you give some extra charge to the alternator when you flick the brights on... chances are it will turn on.
The permanent fix is to purchase a relay harness, they're around $30 at Micro Image. That's also why the HID kit from Micro Image is a bit pricier than many of the eBay kits... all the kits have this relay harness included. |

Think I narrowed down the problem but still need one question answered
Okay so after trying everything tonight, the only conclusion is that i need more power to get the balasts going at 100%. Since they are powering the lesser lights and when i kick on the brights one goes out to give the dirver side enough boost to light up the high beams. So I guess my question now is how do I get more power to the ballasts? Right now they are hooked up to my headlight connector plugs on each side. Should I cut off both plugs (ballast side and headlight wiring side) and then put some sort of power sources between them? This is where I need help.
