Ok lets here from the Bay Area..
I've seen, in the last few weeks, a growing number of Yarii here. So lets here from you.

I hope to test out the Yaris sedan's agility at some point. Anybody autocrossing them yet?

I dunno, but with the TRD springs I'll bet this little car would carve up the local back roads.

Heck even in stock form it did all right up Page Mill. These things are nice-n-light and boy does that make all the difference.

Oh definately! I have the TRD Springs shocks and struts on my liftback. This car handles great...I took it all the way up quimby in the evergreen area.

Got my Yaris Liftback on September 9! It's the first car I've ever bought new. I couldn't be more thrilled!
So far, I've only spotted 4 others like it in my area. It took a while to find the color ("meterorite metallic") and the transmission (had to be Manual!) I was looking for--but well worth the wait! When I finally found my match it came "tricked out" with the 18" wheels and rims, Spoiler, etc. It's so much fun to drive, and so adorable. Now my best friend wants to get one.

Looks like Yaris averages 35 mpg auto/38 mpg std in real world. Try "gas mileage 2007 Toyota Yaris" search for EPA site.

My milage has been from 35mpg (the week I let my wife drive the car) up to 41 on the highway going to and from Tahoe.

Unrelatedly, the car handles Tahoe really well with Blizzaks.

18's on a yaris (IMHO) would be a bit much, plus the added rolling weight of such a large wheel is going to be death to any acceleration and (probably) hurt your MPG.

16's would look good and not be overkill, however.

Just bought a Bayou Blue 3-dr!

I was always intrigued by the Vitz, esp. when I seen a few fixed up ones in the beautiful town of Vancouver BC.
When I heard a replacement for the Echo was on the way and in hatchback form I was really excited. I used to work at a Toyota dealership so i had a chance to PDI the 1st Yarii off the truck. While it was fun to fling around, saying the car was spartan was almost an understatement. I talked to my salesman buddy and he told me California gets the basest of base Yaris hatches, sure you can get the convenience package but no power package for you! My enthusiasm disappeared.
Fast forward to now. Gas prices really suck. Yarii have excellent mileage. New cars cost too much. Yarii HB's are pretty durn cheap. My idle automotive skillz are yearning for a project. Yarii have awesome aftermarket support, moreso than my 03 Matrix XRS. I needed a car. The Yaris I kept building over and over on Toyota.com was on the showroom floor at Toyota Vallejo. So the stars aligned and I picked one up.

I look forward to building this one up. Not as the worlds fastest FWD or as an Import Tuner cover car but as a solid, legit, daily-driven B-seg Yaris hatch that the kids at the high school would call dope and get 35 MPG plus give my XRS a run for its money.

So far:
-TRD shock absorbers
-TRD lowering springs
-TRD sport muffler
-OEM spoiler
-blue accent lights

all through the glory of being put on a due bill and financed! If I wouldn't have been too excited , I would've added the TRD 18's as well. doh!

See you guys later!
