it really handled very well. didnt get a ton of snow here in Wisconsin last year, but a couple of times we got a good 6 inch days...and besides not being able to fit over some of the plowed in streets it did alright in the thick stuff. of course if it wasnt lowered to the ground it would have helped a bit...

but overall i was very satisfied at how well it handled on the snowpacked roads, no major snow driving flaws (asided from the snow reaching halfway up my front bumper >< )

With the stock Bridgestone tires here in Indiana I did pretty good, but I have since bought Yokohama all season tires and I believe they will greatly out perform the stocks.

Last winter with my stock goodyears I did great. The tires almost looked like they were siped. I just kept my speed safe and I did just fine. FWD helps quite a bit. My RWD Astro van sucked horribly in the snow, even with sand in the back.

I did OK last winter with Toyo Proxes 4s, but the stock Bridgestones were a bit lacking.

Well, this past winter we had a discussion on this and I read alot of people saying it was lousy. I know mine sucked in the snow even with less than 6" on the ground while driving safely. The YARIS is a light car especially in the rear. I'm no expert on this, but you did ask the question and again, I think it sucked. Look back in the post's and see if you can find the other topic/s on snow. I was going to find a set of extra rims (2) this summer and put some snows on them and see what happens for this winter. Good luck anyway.

I live in the mountains (close too WV) and grew up on a farm. We could make it with just about everything we drove during the winter. I think good rubber and skill will get you there in any conditions you should be driving in. The FWD vehicle gives you the benefit of weight over the drive axle. If you think the Yaris sucks try a 2WD pickup with no weight over the drive axle in the winter.

BTW, My Subaru Forester kicks ass in the snow.

Its a 2300 pound FWD 4 banger hatchback. How do you think it does? Definitely a candidate for snow tires.

Our yaris was great in the snow... way better than my 94 ford probe GT was. The narrow tires on the yaris dug through the snow quite well, while the 9" wide tires on the probe GT just floated.
