Question Guide me, Yaris world!

It's been a while since I've been on here (so that's good), but I'm experiencing a little issue. Perhaps someone here can give me some guidance and get me in the right direction.

This is an issue that I've been experiencing for a while now, but since I was driving far less the past few months, I didn't really notice it much. I feel the car tugging from time to time, most notably after I come off the gas. BUT tonight I was feeling the tugging while I wasn't on the gas at all. I tested it out a few times on the ride home just now.

I would not be stepping on the gas and I can feel that the car was tugging just a bit as it was rolling, then it'd loosen back up and feel a bit more normal. It was as if I was rolling through a big puddle of glue, but then got through to the other side. I have no lights on the dash showing any issues.

tl;dr - car tugs a bit when not stepping on the gas.

Jack the car up to see if a brake is dragging.

As someone who isn't terribly knowledgeable..... How would I be able to tell that? I have a couple mechanic friends I could possibly ask, I'm just curious.

You need to jack up the corners of the car and spin the wheels. Listen for sounds of dragging or feelings of resistance. You will hear minor scrapping sounds which is normal. Heavy scraping indicates an issue.

surging hunting throttle

when I first got mine (used) it showed a surging/hunting phenomena w/ no or very light throttle on mild descents in a lower gear...think there was something in a thread here about it.
Maybe just when in warm-up/high-idle mode after startup?

Thanks everyone. No update on this just yet. I have yet to bring my car to be looked at. I need to bring it to Toyota for another reason, so I may have them inspect it while it's there.
