Will 175/65-15 tires work on a 6.5 inch rim

I just bought a 2012 Yaris LE. It has 175/65-15 tires. I would like to put some custom rims on but want to use the same tires. I like these http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/fin...2656&rc=TDNINT. The rim is 6.5 inches wide. Will the tires work on these rims and be safe?

175 millimeters = 6.88976378 inches

so it will work fine. 65 is a really tall sidewall, we run 60s stock and thats already so tall.

A 6.5" rim will be pushing it a bit with a 175/65 tire. Most recommendations for that tire size are in the 5-6" range.

Not pushing it at all. 15 x 6.5" will be fine with your existing tires.

175mm tyres will fit nicely on 4.5-6.5" wheels.

* The photo is a single-drilled wheel. FYI, I think that wheel is dual-drilled. You may want to check with discounttire.

* If you can buy them from discounttiredirect, you can save an additional $50 for the set.

Thanks to everybody for their reply.
After looking through the photo gallery of cars with custom wheels I like the Rota RB wheels. But they are 7 inches wide so my tires would not work.

Perhaps you could sell your original wheels/tyres/covers as a package on craigslist. That's what I did... and I was surprised how much I could get for them!

Get the wheels you want first, and then sell your stock wheels.

I sold my stock steelies on Craigslist in one day for $400 cash...

They went fast because they were in beautiful condition just like yours are. I bought Rota RB's because they're the only ones which have that old time 1960's rounded spoke "mag wheel" look.

tooter, I'm getting the same wheels you have. Same size 15x7 and offset +35 with 185/60/15 tires. The dealer is buying my 175/65/15 tires which only have 723 miles on them. You mentioned in another thread that you had to add 5mm spacers on the front to clear the brake calipers. Did the wheel or the spokes rub the caliper or was it just to close for comfort. I do not want to use a spacer if I don't have to. Do you know what the size of the hub bore is? I've seem them listed on the Racinglab.com site with 67.1mm and 57.1mm bores.

^ Either hub bore would work for you, but it's most likely 67.1mm.

Our hubs are 54.1mm and can use almost any wheel because of it. You would need conical lugs and you can get hubcentric rings if you'd like (not necessary, but they are nice.)
