^ Just picture it without all the goodies like push-button start, 6MT, navi, auto climate control...

That's what they did with the 2nd gen anyway.

Maybe they'll give us the goodies the Japanese get... push-button start, CVT tranny, and auto climate control.

... who am I kidding, we won't get any of the goodies.

The 2006-2011 Vitz (Yaris HB) has unique character, and with minor tweaks each year could have developed into a serious "cult" car much like the Mini and Bug. IMHO, Toyota has missed a golden opportunity here. Instead, the new 2012 Vitz has become a generic looking small car that will simply blend into the crowd having no real personality of its own. I find the new model totally unappealing.

I can appreciate the need to freshen up a look, but I much prefer the current Yaris.

that screen most definitely will not be standard. it may be available with some "package" that forces you to pay $18k+ for the yaris.

quite honestly, if i am going to pay $18 k for a small hatch, it will be a fiat 500 sport...ive driven a couple now and all i can say is its about time we get a small hatch in the usa that is fun to drive.

That is right. The shown car has got the "Club" Package with additional parts like Toyota Touch&Go. Packages here (in Germany):

- Yaris
- Cool
- Life
- Club
- Executive

MSRP for a 5-door Club Yaris with Touch&Go (Internetz, yay!) is about 17350 EUR here ~ 25.000$

I guess these packages will never get availabe in the US because the car would be too expensive for this market. I am quite sure you will get the old 1.5l engine with 5-speed or automatic, too.

I didn't like the early leaks of this car, but the final version looks all nice and grown up. I still love the look of my 07' but this is a really nice looking little car. I just wish Toyota would sell a Diesel version here in a 5 speed.

One of our UK publications got a couple of images. I think the new interior looks way better than the current car.

If there is once again no TRD turbo option available, the big mouth fascia with the sinister headlights is a little overstated for an underpowered econobox.

Touch and Go system to be on 95% of the model range as standard. New Yaris to be around £300 more expensive than current MY11 spec for spec.
