Tire Pressure Sensors - Toyota Yaris Forums

Tire pressure sensors are not covered. I had a blow out today,
the blow caused damage to the sensor found out it wasn't
covered under warranty. After considering taking a tire iron
over the service manager's head, I decided it wasn't worth it.
Also upgraded garbage Good Year tires,since there wern't any available
from local Good Year tire shop that Good Year owns and operates.
Just a heads up guys and gals.

Why would they warranty something that was damaged?

They(York Auto Group)said it was normal wear and tear.
Today was the last time they will ever see my car.
I just think it's B.S.,I just paid 16K for the car(they made money).
Pretty piss poor customer satisfaction.

No...I'm asking you...why would they warranty something that was damaged? It wasn't defective, it was damaged. If you dented the fender would they warranty that too? See what I'm saying?

Would you lose a customer over a hundred dollar sensor?

Purchased a sensor from our sponser Tire Rack and installed
yesterday, progrmmed it,however I could not communicate
with the remaining three(neither could the Toyota dealership).
They wanted too charge 140.00 to remove the tires and try to determine
the problem.
I said no way.
Contacted Toyota Corp. and explained what happened,what they
told me,what I did yesterday,and what the dealership did today.
I had asked Toyota Corp. if they had any problems with the '12 sensors,
they said they had not yet. I'm sure Toyota Corp will correct the problem.

the sensors have to be "relearned", your car wont recognize it otherwise. take your car to a tire shop to get the sensors learned and your problem should go away.

Has anyone tried to do a TPS system override/disable on the '12 yet?

I'm already at 3500 miles, when the first set of tires is done, they will be coming off in favor of a common, more easily obtained, and less expensive size.

The bypass won't be as easy on a 2012, since the TPWS is now a bit smarter than it was on the 2nd gen. With the 2nd gen the TPWS was a standalone system that drove an LED on the cluster. With the 3rd gen it communicates to the Body ECU via LIN bus and then the Body ECU communicates with the cluster via CAN bus and the cluster drives the LED based on the CAN bus messaging.

Yes - There is no easy way to bypass the TPMS, other than taking the cluster apart and sticking a piece of black tape over the LED.

Somewhere on here is a DIY on how to cut a lead in the TPMS black box and make the light go away for good. 2nd Gen only, sorry!
Curious; If I throw my 4 original TMPS steelies with the original tires on them into the back of my car will that make the light go out when I go for inspection? I'd like to keep my newer NON tpms alloys on since the tires are newer with better treads.
