YarisT Sport 2005

Hey guys, i have a 2005 yaris t sport with a problem, the odometer or the trip do not display at all? i have removed the instrument cluster, i have found 8 points on the underside of the pcb board, i believe a dil eeprom is on the other side of the board and i can connect via these points below? correct me if im wrong? i do not want to take the needles off as they don't look like they can be removed without damaging them? i have also read that the eeprom on these yaris sport's is rotated so i have attached the pictures of the points and the connection points (once rotated) but i cannot read any data from this chip using these points? am i doing something wrong?

it could only be one of these 2 options above depending on which direction the eeprom is situated!

The EEPROM pinout will not be interlaced like that. It will either be :

8 1
7 2
6 3
5 4

or

4 5
3 6
2 7
1 8

I don't read German, but I assume that he is talking about which pins on his programming device go to which pins on the 93C46. You would never see a standard part number like the 93C46/LC46 where the pins locations are changed.

Ah - That is just for that programmer. I have a smart one that automatically adjusts for the location of functions on particular pins. With mine the pins are always connected in proper pin order.

If you connect yours per that and you still get no response from the EEPROM, then there is likely a larger problem with the odometer than the EEPROM needing to be reprogrammed.

oh right, I've got a few different programmers, one is a Diagprog 3 which im hoping also will automatically swap pins for me, but im going to try and read it later and i will find out. Do you not think reprogramming the mileage data will sort the issue? if not i may load a dataset for a yaris, i have a few, do you have any in miles from a 2005 sport C46?

My bet is that it will not fix it, as I can't imagine that they had a bug in the odometer firmware where it would corrupt itself like that. It is worth a try before replacing it though.

Unfortunately I don't have any MK1 dumps.

Hey diagtech, would you mind posting about how you can access the EEPROM and modify the data ? I have been unsuccesful in looking for that information and that document you have looks interesting. I would like to fix the milage on my replacement meters.

Thanks.
