RANDOM ELECTRONICS RESET

Hi all! I'm from the philippines and i own a 2009 vios which is the same as the yaris sedan. My car's electronics will randomly reset cluster light and gauges blinks then dies , radio shuts off, power steering doesnt work, headlight/fog light/indoor light flickers this happens in a couple of seconds the everything will work again with the exception of the power steering which needs another start up to make it work. This happens usually at night when i have the lights on. Battery is OK. Alternator is OK... The only thing i notice is i don't have passing lights(when my HL is off, i have Hi/Low Beam when it is ON) and my speedo doesnt go down to 0 it just stays at between 5-10kph when idle.

Scanner detected the codes:

C0200 :
front current speed sensor RH Circuit

C0205: Front current spped sensor LH Circuit

ABS/VSC NOT OK

MAIN BODY NOT OK

are any of these codes related to the issues i have? If not what could be the problem?

Thank you, YARIS WORLD.

Those codes are all likely due to the loss of power while running. Check for corroded battery terminals or corroded connectors where the large wires snap into the back of the positive battery terminal.

I just had a quick check on the terminals it looks good to me. I will still yet to look on the connectors. Are you refering to the white and black that snap on the back?

Just checked the both the terminal, the black and white socket wires. They look good to me., no corrotion. I'm uploading photos now, maybe i missed something. Could you take a look at it later? @CTScott

They don't look bad at all. Have you done any modifications to the electrical system (new stereo, aftermarket headlights, etc.)?

Since it only happens when the headlights on, check all wiring to the headlights.

Also check all of the connectors in the under-hood fuse box to make sure one is not loose.

And, check all of the ground straps between the battery and chassis and engine and chassis.

Okay, so i haven't experienced the problem for the last 70kms. I've Been driving from home to work with my lights on day/night. Maybe there was a loose connection somewhere in the circuitry. Although the speedo does not go down to 0(maybe a sensor problem) . Thank you for the help

Something like that can be hard to track down. Check all the grounds you can find, could be a relay going bad, but I don't think one relay would control that many things. Maybe the ignition switch?

Finally found the problem, the wirings on the negative terminal to the body and starter was loose. Had to cut and resolder. that explains also why i had trouble starting the car.

-problem fixed-
