I’m with Greenbean, and that’s why I bought my 2016 Yaris L. I can live without most amenities, except A/C (I live in So. florida.) I will tell you the one thing I wish I had is cruise control because I drive 175 miles each way to work. I reject the new technology. I feel that it’s complicated and driven the cost up on our vehicles. I also feel it’s given way to inept lazy drivers. Most people say I’m a 70 year old in a 37 year old body, but that’s just the way I see it. Everyone is different. When looking for my Yaris I liked the look of the 3DR better. It looks sporty and so I was willing to ease up on the upgrades because I knew down the road I would customize it. I honestly am a little disappointed with the aftermarket support for this car. That being said, all of you have done an amazing job upgrading and customizing with what little you’ve had to work with. I know I’ve gotten a little off topic, but you have to ask yourself, what do I really want? If you like the 3dr, you will always want it and if you buy the 4dr you’ll always be looking back over your shoulder at “the other girl” that got away. Good luck with your decision.

Interesting!

Really? I can’t find much yet, So does the 2018+ become the 4th Gen?

Edit: NM, I found some Wiki Info and it’s still a 3rd Gen but now I’m confused!

I would definitely want the rear sway and tower bracing...

If first gen parts swap to the 2nd or 3rd?

Or do I need to only stick with 2012 and up suspension stuff?

I can see a lot or 07-11 susp parts and can those indeed be installed on a 2018?

Engine, suspension and exhaust are upward compatible from Gen2 to Gen3.

Give up on a manual SE (which I know you weren't really leaning towards anyway). Unless they changed the allocation for the 2018, I remember there being only ONE 2017 manual SE in the entire US back in either May or June, and it was somewhere in the east coast. I forget when I last checked (I used to sell Toyotas, quit back in July).

I would, if I were you, go and sit/test drive a new one. I know I can't even sit in one for more than 10 minutes as they've changed the fixed lumbar support for the 3rd gen. It's unbearable for me. At least the seats in the SE (that's all the dealership I worked for ever got).
