2008 Toyota Yaris passenger side view mirror change

Hello I recently noticed coming home from some Christmas shopping that some one must of hit the passenger side view mirror on my black 2008 Toyota Yaris Hatchback , I noticed 2 days later as the morrir is fine except for the back of the mirrors casing is missing. I went to an automotive store and bought a Mirror for $55 tax incl The Mirror is Identical ,When removing the Toyota Yaris Mirror There was a wire Harness which I have no Idea what its function is. as both my sideview mirrors are MANUAL? The Wire was attached to the Mirror with no other way but to SNIP IT AS CLOSE TO THE MIRROR AS POSSIBLE IN case I later discover it serves an Important SERVICE I attached the new mirror and it functions exactly like the original factory Toyota Yaris Mirror and looks brand new I am now speculating that this wire was a defogger of some sort that is perhaps connected to the rear window ? CAN ANYONE TELL ME THE FUNCTION oF THAT WIRE HARNESS AS IT IS DISCONNECTED BUT ISNT AFFECTING ANYTHING BEING DISCONNECTED ? I must say however the new mirror is functioning perfectly actually making the driver side miirror look old and worn lol, Thanks for your help!

The thread below shows where the OEM side mirror connectors connect under the door panel. There are a few possibilities for your car:

1. Mirror was replaced prior with a power one instead of manual one and connector is plugged in, but non functional.

2. Your mirror had the OEM defog/defrost pad on the back of the glass.

3. Aftermarket mirror defog/defrost pad was installed to the back of the glass.
