Going from the stock lightweight 15 steelies with tires to some at least 10lbs heavier per wheel 18's will make a HUGE negative impact on your gas mileage. I've tested it before on another small 4 cylinder car, and the difference between 15 lb stock 15's to 27lb 18's was 4mpg avg. That hits the wallet hard. Not to mention the half second it will add to your already slow 0-60 time. Getting a Yaris off the line with heave 17's/18's will be harder on the clutch too. Not to mention the tremendous stress the shock, springs, and brakes get from trying to control that boat anchor of a wheel.
You might be able to tell that wheels/tires are my forte. I can't stand bling boys that think they're rolling hard with their 19's. Only people they're impressing is the clueless. All real enthusiats know JDM/race ftw. Hope you made the right decision. |

I kinda laugh at any mention of Yaris and 0-60 times in the same sentence.
Think I can afford the extra 50c worth of gas to get me to work, also couldnt care less that I cant beat a tercel at a light either.

It's not about racing Tercel's, it's about having good, safe pick up in a car that needs all the help it can get. Trust that a Yaris with 11lb 15's would RUN away from your car with 28 lb 18's or 20's, or whatever those hideous things are. I mentioned 0-60 to just put it in perspective. Then say you are half a seconds slower in ALL areas of acceleration. Is that better? It's a difference that can be felt very easily. Don't believe me? Go grab your stockies and put even just the fronts on and drive it back to back, the difference will be large. |

This is a dumb argument. Why bother trying to convince someone that they shouldn't like what they like?

I don't know about how much respect (or "respek") I'll have on tap, but I defintely want to see those pictures. I've had a lot of fun the past week ciculating the pics from this thread to all my friends. Good times.
