F5 Fujita Cold Air Intake Review
So I just installed my Fujita intake on my Liftback. The installation took longer than I thought since the fitment was tight to say the least. I'll list some quick pro's and con's to start with.
Pros - Car sounds really sweet under full throttle, but isn't too loud while just cruising. - Smoother power delivery and seems more peppy up top. - Lots of extra goodies came with the intake. Cons - Squeezing the intake into place is kind of a PITA. I recommend having a friend help you. - Car is LOUD under full throttle. This can good or bad, depending how you look at it. - Threw a check engine light. I'll disconnect the battery overnight and see if that gets rid of it. If not, hopefully it'll go away after a week or so once the engine adjusts to the new air readings. I gotta admit that the intake did have some fitment issues. I'll list them here. Fitment Issues - The bottom of the pipe where the filter connect is all kinds of weird, putting the filter on the back of the foglight housing, quite literally. I don't have fogs, but I fear for those that do. - The small bracket that connects to the vibration reducer was facing the wrong direction. I had to bend it up in the general directionl, then hammer it down onto the rubber reducer thing to get it to fit. This took a majority of the installation time. - The bottom of the pipe rubs against the splash guard infront of the wheel. I may be able to cut away part of the top of the splashguard without exposing the filter. I'll check it out later on when I have more time. - The air circulation hose that goes from the intake to the engine is stretched to fit. It would have been nice if Fujita had supplied a slightly longer hose and better connectors. - The sensor plug that is taken off the stock rubber piping really has no place to rest without clanking against the intake piping. I finally got around to taping it to another hose, but it's stretched a bit. Not enough to make me worry, but enough to mention. __________________________________________ Overall, I'm pretty pleased with the intake. Some small fitment issues, but once all is said and done, the intake has made the car more fun so I figure it's worth the hassle. I would maybe ask Fujita to review the design to ensure that fitment for the both the sedan and liftback is the same, because I think they're somewhat different. I'll try to get some pics later.
