Replacing the luggage door lock (cylinder)
Hello
I am a proud owner of a 2006 Toyota Yaris. I want to replace the luggage door lock. It is probably the cylinder that has rusted. I have tried to find a guide on the nett, but to no avail. Anybody here that have any experience? Sincerely A not so handyman |

Check out my DIY for replacing the lock with a scion IQ switch, as it shows how to remove the hatch plastic and how to get to the lock assembly: http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=39677

Have you tried disassembling it? They corrode internally but 20 minutes with some coarse sandpaper and grease should bring it back to life. The corrosion causes the internal cylinder to get bigger. It then gets "stuck" inside the outer shell and the entire lock seizes (cannot turn it without bending your key, sometimes can't even push the button in at all).
Otherwise, you'll be looking at paying a locksmith to rekey the lock (or having another set of keys just for the hatch). |
