Confused about 2016 Yaris hatchbacks for U.S. market.

I've read a variety of stories about the new Yaris hatchbacks being built in France by Toyota. I also thought I read the new Yaris hatchbacks might simply be rebadged Mazda2. Can anyone help clarify?

1. Will the 2016 Yaris hatchback (for the U.S. market) be a "true" Toyota (not simply a rebadged Mazda)?

2. Where will it be built?

3. When will the rebadged Mazda2 be sold as the Yaris in the U.S.?

Sorry about my simple questions. I've become confused with all the darn threads and articles I've read! I have a 2012 Yaris and would consider getting a 2016 Yaris if I knew that was the last year the Yaris was a "true" Toyota, and not simply a Mazda.

Hi
The 2016 Yaris Hatchback for the U.S. market will be built in France and will be a true Toyota.

The 2016 rebadged Mazda 2 Sedan will be sold in the U.S. as the Scion iA. It will be sold in Canada as a Yaris.

There is a strong possibility that in the future that the Toyota Hatchback will be built in Mexico but not at the present.

From what I have read, the all-new 2017 "Yaris" total revamp will be a Mazda Skyactiv product built for Toyota in Mexico - most likely some variant of their 2016 Mazda2 hatchback, which Mazda isn't releasing in the U.S. Market since the 2011-2015 Mazda2 was such a dismal seller for them here - and they prefer to focus on their popular Mazda3 and soon-to-be hit CX-3 crossover built on the Mazda2 platform. The 2016 Mazda2 sedan (with slight cosmetic modification) is already being released via Toyota in 2016 as the Scion iA in the USA and as the Yaris Sedan in Canada.

The 2016 Yaris hatchback will be the same "true Toyota product" as the 2015 model, though I have heard rumors that some new-to-USA color options might be added for 2016, and a different alloy wheel design. Other than those possible variations, the 2016 will be the same as 2015.

Check the black out in person. My local dealer had one in an SE and it wasn't very sharp. I love black cars, but I didn't like the black on the Yaris. My three fave in order are white, blue, and gunmetal.

I agree. The black looks better in pics than in-person - and the dark gray looks a lot better in-person than in the pics, oddly enough.

Plus, the black hides a lot of the contrasting styling (minus the rear lower white/silver reverse light, which it has the opposite effect with) - which is only good if you are trying to hide/blend the 2015 front signature grill design, or blend those OEM black alloy wheels better with the car.

I went and saw they car, I would agree. Plus this one had the black plastic trim pieces already fading and the passenger seat had some sort of "bleach" like white-ish dot in the fabric.
