What is needed to add a second keyless entry remote?

My Yaris came with 3 keys - 1 keyless entry and 2 regular. I am hoping to get a second keyless entry remote, or convert one of my 2 regular keys to a remote. I've found CTScott's guide on how to program them, but I'm not sure what to get in the first place!

I see some listings on eBay like this one which is a "remote key replacement shell" so I figure this isn't the only thing I need.

But the same eBay store has these Transponder chip key which looks just like what I have now.

Am I even looking in the right direction?

Thanks & Cheers

The replacement shell is just the shell and nothing else. That's what I just purchased to replace my mashed up buttons. It has no electronics. I believe you will need the transponder chip key.

I figured as much, but I hope there is someone here who knows what part I need to look for the remote.

I believe so. I think that's required on all cars up in Canada unless I'm mistaken.

It's also worth noting that I already have one remote, but my wife uses it.

The part number is: 89070-52850

Here's the first place that comes up doing a quick search:

What information should I ask about before bidding on something like this?

Part#, FCC ID, etc?

The HQY12BBY from the listing is the FCC ID. You can look at the back of your other one (or you might have to pop the cover) to see what the FCC ID is of yours. I don't believe that you will find that that one matches, as the Camry key's have different part numbers.

Alright I'm back to wanting to do this.
I found a remote key with identical codes on the inside. Before I hit Buy It Now I want to confirm that getting it cut won't be a problem. Everything needed is already in the chip correct? Once it is cut and programmed using the guy it will work?

You'll have to make the car learn the remote, as well as the transponder key. The procedure for both have been posted in some other threads.

Yes. That's the part for the remote. There's another section for adding a transponder key.

hm.. having trouble finding the section about the transponder key. I will have to spend some more time digging around before my key gets here!

EDIT: I found this http://www.toyotaownersclub.com/foru...howtopic=85266 (post #3). I will give it a shot.

Got my key - anybody know if it is possible to transfer my current key blade with the uncut key blade on the new remote key? It might be easier than trying to program the keys. I'm afraid of accidentally hitting the erase code to remove all my current keys!!

Edit: I don't think it's possible now. I see the transponder is in the key fob itself, not the blade.
