08 cup holder removal?

I want to remove the cup holder "door" so I can clean all the previous owners coffemate out? I have the manual on disk, but it states only how to do it when removing dash? Does the door come off without removing glove boxes?

Also in the manual pic it is not clear if you pry out on the hinge or in?

Any thoughts?

Open the holder there is a screw down in the bottom remove that, then you will have to pry the sides out from the dashboard pulling forward. It does take a good amount of force but it will come out.

In the manual it looked as though that screw was to remove the air vent! And dash. Will give it a shot!
Do you pry out on arms?

Ugh. Gross (IMO..but not gross for you to relay...just gross on the previous owner's part). I don't remember if your purchase was dealer/craigslist/ebay/other. If mr miles sees this, he'll probably have that reaction several times over (and other members as well).

Ok! On a serious note. I have replaced the water pump, installed cruise control. But I cant get the @&$&@& cup holder out. Anymore force, and I will rip the dash out! It can't be this hard? How about it scott! Any thoughts?
I believe I would rather take the motor apart than try and get this @!$$& cup holder out!

There is a piece of spring steel on the back side that gives it its detent. I find that it is easier to remove them if you first remove the screw and that spring. The problem is that you can only get to the screw if you lift the dash top, which means basically removing the whole thing.

Windex, a used toothbrush and a vacuum. Please don't use your current toothbrush.
