Looking much, much better than the typically plain past Corollas.

Great tail lights, great headlights, grill. A Corolla S (SE?) will surely be great looking.

Can't wait to see more, whole pics from Toyota.

Without the "C"

lulz. Looks like they're all going with similar designs in the front.

I like it. But there is quite a bit of photoshopping been done before with the "C's" on it.

Yup, but this is the Euro spec Corolla which gets such added features. The US won't see these.

Not because Europe gets special treatment, but because they pay much more for their small cars than Americans. Americans associate cost with size so as our cars get bigger, so does feature content. We wouldn't spend $25K for a Corolla since we'd just get a Camry. Europeans regularly spend $25K for compacts, even sub-compacts.

I have a more EU way of looking at cars than a lot of US citizens do, but you're right. What you say is especially true (at least re what I have observed) in Texas and in parts of California well away from the coast....as well as more of what SOME coastal people (not me pre TX) condescendingly refer to as 'flyover country'.

you can even see it in Yaris vs Corolla. Even at the same price point, people chose to buy a Corolla, and dealers would rather sell the Corolla.

But the thing that wasn't mentioned is taxes. Europeans get overtaxed on everything, from car dimensions, to engine size, to co2 put out, etc. If the choice was between a Yaris contented out fully as a US Camry, or a fully contented US Camry, but you would have to pay thousands more in taxes additionally every year on the Camry, people would start to change their mind.

Same thing in Japan, except there is a gigantic tax after the second full year of ownership, so there are japanese car lots with two year old cars that just won't sell because of these insane taxes that are due at the time of sale.

Very interesting. I knew about the taxes in Europe re engine size, but not the other things you mention. Also sad. These are examples (especially the '2 year tax law') of what happens, IMO, when the government puts its nose where it doesn't belong.

The original pics in the thread are apparently foreign market, likely the ASEAN market Corolla.

Thoughts:

First Corolla in decades that doesn't look like a Corolla.

Pretty nice. Great headlights, aggressive lower grill surprising on a Corolla, nice tail lights.

Interior a huge improvement.

Some lines slightly awkward (mainly the rear window kink - not a fan). Crappy wheel design. And c'mon Toyota, still with the ridiculous wheel gap?

I like just about everything about it except the small second window in the rear door on each side is a deal killer (the car is then easier to break into, especially without being detected). The elimination of such a window is one of the best things about the 3rd Gen Yaris 5-door (IMO).
