Its not that hard. You can pop the boot out of either side pretty easily. Run a piece of stiff wire through first and tape your flaccid ones to it.

I used a wooden chopstick which worked quite well.

But yes, it's a pain in the ass.
Having a 5-DR Yaris means I have twice the fun with wiring through the boots.

I rewired my power windows for a different switch mounting location. I like the new setup a LOT better.

Speaker wire, lighting wire, anything electrical should be wired through the boot of the door jams.

Pull off one side of the boot and you'll see several electrical wires for door locks, windows, etc. because any electrical wiring should be tucked away neatly and not come into contact with moisture.
