passenger seat removal?

Has anyone removed the passenger seat in a Hatch 1.5? I could use some extra room and I NEVER have passengers...What size torx bolts hold the seat on???
I thought a nice plywood box would be of more use...I have already removed the back seat bottom and I store stuff there..

Yes - Some have for various reasons.

You use an E10 socket (basically an inverse torx socket) to remove the bolts. An 8mm normal socket will work if the bolts are not corroded.

There is the passenger occupancy system built into the seat, as well as the seatbelt sensor. To keep the SRS (airbag) ECU happy you can use my Occupant Classification Sensor Bypass Module, which is sold by Micro Image: http://shop.microimageonline.com/sea...keywords=ocsbm

It simply plugs into the OC ECU, in place of the harness that would normally connect to the sensors under the seat.

I recommend NOT using anything but a eTorx10 socket. I used a 8mm and one ended up stripping and I had to weld a nut to it. Luckily it was in a more accessible location than the ones in the seat rail. Who's to say it wouldn't have stripped using the proper socket? But using the wrong socket is just asking for it to strip, all it took was one push and it stripped the head completely. If you do use a hex socket, use a 5/16, it's roughly .1 mm smaller than a 8mm, and fits much tighter onto a eTorx10. FYI Amazon sells a eTorx set for $15 with free shipping (2 day if you have Prime): http://www.amazon.com/Lisle-26750-To...=external+torx. That's the one I bought after stripping a bolt, I learned my lesson.

Fault light stays lit (as mentioned above) and the rest of the airbag system will likely not do its thing in a crash, since the system is in a fault state.

One would certainly hope that a complete failure of the SRS would not result from a single component of the system being in a fault state.

The SRS is a dangerous system. I would want such a system to have only deploy with everything in a know safe state.

When I try to go to that link my browser won't let me. Is that still a safe link, or is there some other place that I can buy the bypass? I have a 2013 HB.

I understand that some cars only need to see the correct resistance, so you can just measure the resistance of the sensor and replace the sensor with a resistor of the same value. Not sure if the Yaris works like that. I'll have to check it out.
