USB flash drive

I just bought a '08 Yaris. One thing that I really miss from my old car is that the radio had a flash drive for a USB. I could just save music on it, plug it into the radio and play.

I noticed the factory radio as a AUX button. Is there a kit or something that I can hook up to the radio to just plug in my flash drive?

I don't want to spend more money on a whole new radio or go the cheap way for a simple DIN style insert.

There are few devices that enable you to do that. They can plug into you cig lighter for power and transmit the flash drive's decoded mp3s to your car's radio via RF on a dedicated freq.

Google "Play flash drive in car".

However, I just use a mp3 player plugged into the aux port if I want to hear my mp3s which my be a easier and less contrived solution for you.

Get yourself a real cheap mp3 player, load your music on it and plug that into the aux instead.

I did what Altitude is saying, but for my dad's workshops. I bought two Sandisk mp3 players (purple was $10 cheaper at the time), loaded them with Elvis and other oldies I'm sick of, and bam!

Yeah, you loose the control at your finger tips on the dash. But if you have good playlists for a commute, then you don't need to keep messing with it.

upgrade to an aftermarket deck with USB capability. You could still keep the aux location by splicing the wiring. I know of several folks that have done that. Even some good DIYs on the net on how to "install" a USB port or two into your panels.

There are also decks which have both AUX in and USB.
