I wasn't telling you to, but maybe foreign brands might disappear from US.

Tariffs aside, I personally think that the Yaris hatch will be cancelled in the U.S. Market within the next two years (meaning, no next-gen TNGA Yaris hatch in the U.S. market). Sales are next-to-nothing currently, and most of those are rental fleet vehicles. Plus, now that the Corolla has a hatch version, there is even less need of the Yaris hatch in their lineup.

Example: 2018 Black SE hatch. Has been sitting unsold at dealership for at least 6 months already. If this car was in Arizona, I would have probably already picked it up. - but AZ dealers (& other states in this region) won't even stock the SE trim at all, let alone a token L/LE hardly.

The Yaris hatch just doesn't sell in the U.S. hardly at all, outside of rental/fleet vehicle sales, and it certainly doesn't help that Toyota dealers do everything possible to discourage buyers who may be interested, by not stocking them or aggressively shunting them to the overstocked iA/Mazda2 or Corolla (which usually has incentives that lower it down in price close to a Yaris). I might be discouraged from getting another new Yaris SE for my next car in 2020-2021, since dealer here won't stock them, & I shouldn't have to go out of state to find one (AGAIN), or have to special order it for a premium. It's just a lose-lose proposition for the poor little Yaris hatch.

I like them for what they are; but the price is a huge turn off IMO.

The 2nd gen models were everywhere. I see them every day not counting mine. But the later ones... I dunno what happened. It's like they decided to just not push them or something. It's too bad.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but we're the 323rd and 4th gens not higher in price than the 2nd? Iirc the 2nd gens were priced well around $13 or$14k all in (CAD) for base model vs the close to $20k they now seem to be.

Almost seems like toyota stopped wanting to take a loss on the Yaris so just hacked the price up and there a bunch of useless techy thing in the cars to justify it

i see now, my maga comment got deleted, lol

the thing is, americans don't buy small cars. if they did, they'd have more to sell. its simple supply and demand.

that, and OEM manufacturers dont' make much, if anything off small cars. so, like ford, they'll just stop selling them (in north america).

once gas tops $3/gallon in the US consistently, you'll see a resurgence of small cars

the simple logic that the onset of small cars was pushed by the "fuel crisis" we've been seeing since the 80s coupled with the killing of larger vehicles forced the US hands into smaller cars, now the rebuttle of hybrid and super effecient cars of all sizes means the need for small "commuter" cars is null, and add that car prices seem to keep creeping up, where in the new car market at least what are you gonna buy? used small vehicle, new big vehicle

:/

I will believe it when I see it in the U.S. market - though if it does make it, I bet it will be one ugly little bugger trying really hard to look futuristic in a goofy sort of way.
