Well the F-150 is the biggest or one of the biggest selling cars/trucks of all time...their truck sales of gone down but not enough (at least at this point) to rank them any lower...I guess people still need trucks to haul stuff, regarless if the price of gas is this high, remember this is the U.S. and the truck market is a decent sized one.

I can see the trucks because like Echo said...no matter what people will always need to haul. The word is that Dodge is to release a v-8 hemi hybrid in the next couple years in the Ram that will have 300hp and get over 30 HWY mpg.

The stats are slightly misleading because there is no separation between fleet and consumer sales. If the sales figures were adjusted and fleet sales were removed, the F-150, or any of the other trucks for that matter, would not be close to the top.

Bill Ford himself has said that fleet sales are Ford's saving grace.

USA Sales, I would not be surprise, but if you added Canadian sales to it, I am sure you will notice a lot more on 'smaller' cars.

I just looked in a magazine I get here weekly in the dealership that provides us with weekly, monthly, and YTD sales and production numbers- the numbers seen above are, in fact, combined (public and fleet) production. So that is not even the amount sold! I'm guessing that dividing the truck numbers by roughly half (to adjust for fleet sales and unsold units) would give you a somewhat accurate number of actual public truck sales- MUCH lower.

the only two main vehicles that are sold in massive quantity by Ford on commercial basis are the Crown Vics(police, taxis, public officials) and Taurus(rentals). some of the other vehicles are aswell but selling f150s to contractors in quantities of 2 or more doesn't count as commercial. Ford quality is very good concidering its a dying company. compared to gm and chrslyer, its america saving grace. cause it has yet needed to merge with an outside company to survive. one of fords most durable engines is 13-14yrs old design wise and still only uses OHV not OHC
