Question what water temp does cooling fan turn on

I was in heavy traffic yesterday my temp went up to 202 F just wondered when the fan was supposed to come on

Haven't seen higher than 195 degrees on mine and the fan has ben silent so far - would bet it comes on around 200 degrees.

Will be mid-spring around here before there is a possibility of that happening again.

I think it went up that high cause like you said you're sitting and there's heat from other cars etc. Shouldn't be a big deal but if it stays that high while driving (normal speed limit or thereof) or goes higher then worry but otherwise don't worry.

maybe it would have come on in another couple of minutes hope so anyway i will worry until i know for sure it works right i will check it tommarrow with the deforster it should turn it on when the ac kicks on as long as that works i would at least have a way to turn on manualy if i got caught in traffic again if we have a nice warm day again

An old trick to cool an overheated engine is to turn the heater on full blast with heater fan on its highest setting. (The heater is just another radiator.)

You might get overheated, but it will cool the car.

a new car should not over heat,but 202 is when then fan comes on.

my scan gauge said 202 it does worry me mite not find out for sure if its working until spring unless we get lucky and have a warm day again

Ya,my scangauge also said 202 at the time the fan came on,then temp dropped to 190 pretty fast,then fan went off again.

supposed to get up to 70f here on friday maybe i can get it to heat up again maybe if i would have been stopped in traffic a few more seconds it would have came on
