observation

was changing the oil on my wife's 2002 echo, was amazed at how good the car looked underneath, no rust anywhere i could see, hell it looked as good as a new car !!

just found it interesting

Well my 2 2007 Toyota Yarises shows rust coming off the muffler hanger. But Ohio is known for being part of the rust belt. (lots of salt on the road during the winter).

I had a 2001 Echo and it was great. It had done 161000km by the time I traded it in and had no issues with the car whatsoever.

I had the same thought when looking at the underside of my 01 Echo and that was after 210,000kms,recently sold it and bought an 05 Echo.

+1. I've noticed that forming slowly since about last Fall. I guess I'll finally get that aftermarket exhaust after this one finally drops

Other that, at 25K miles it still runs like new
