Is it worth trying to move to Terminal 1 and 2 of the 4-pin connector at position 1 and 2 of the 10-pin connector? or is in vain? still will not go anything? The blue wire is the ground wire and do not know where to put it if put in place the terminal 1 of the 4-pin plug.

No. Where you have the connector is correct for ones that are cruise control equipped.

I am looking for the connector on the left in the photo below. You will remove the two screws behind the steering wheel and the one by the tilt lever to remove the lower cover.

You do not have the wiring diagram for 1.4 d4d? Although I know that the same engine Auris 1.4 D4D has cruise control, I hope someone will hear us and we may find a solution in the future, I just have to have patience.

It is connector 1 that we need to look at. I do have the D4D wiring diagrams, where the "engine control" one does not show cruise control, whereby the wiring diagrams for the 1.33L gas engine does. I don't have the wiring diagrams for the Auris, but I do see in the parts catalog that it uses a different ECM.

CTScott,

I am new to this forum. My daughter in Indiana just purchased a 2012 Yaris Sedan without cruise control. I noticed from the pictures she sent, that the cluster is mounted in the center of the dash vs behing the steering wheel as I am seeing in the pictures in this thread. I am guessing that Toyota did a mid-year refresh of the vehicle in 2012 and that she has the older version.

I have two questions...

1) Can I add OEM cruise to her car using your instructions?
2) If so, which directions do I use. The ones for 2009-2011 or the ones for 2012?

I have added OEM cruise to another daughters 2010 Cobalt. This looks much easier than that.

Thanks,
Fred

Hi Fred,

Sedans did not get an update in 2012 as liftbacks did, so for your daughter's car the my 2009-2011 directions are the ones you will follow.

Also, for the 2012, the lower steering wheel cover has a separate removable cover section for where the cruise stalk goes through, called the "lower no. 2 steering wheel cover"

I'm trying to remove a 2012 Yaris steering wheel airbag. I can see the 3 spring clips but cannot understand how you release them, does it require a special tool? can anyone help explain?

The pin that goes into the spring clips has a groove in it that the spring clip latches onto, so you are trying to open the legs on the clip to release it from the groove.

How do you do, it is called takumu. It has ridden on Japanese use of 12 models. There is no cruise control in vitz of Japanese use, and I am troubled by it. It did not operate, even if it post-installed the cruise control switch. If it investigates, there is no wiring of a spiral cable to the point. Who has a wiring diagram of the cruise control of yaris of 12 models? Or please let me know wiring to a computer. Thank you for your consideration.

Welcome! It is always nice to hear from people from the birthplace of the Yaris (Vitz). I believe that the third generation Vitz still does not support cruise control. The European third generation Yaris (only the one with the 1.33L engine) now does, but not the Japanese one. The reason I think this is that the parts catalog for the Japanese Vitz does not list any parts related to cruise control.

On the ones that do have it, Pin 60 of ECM connector A72 is where one wire of the stalk connects to and the other wire connects to chassis ground.

Mr. CTScott, thank you. My car is 1 KR-FE engine. Somehow, the form of the connector of A70 was different. It was connector-shaped [ of the same engine computer as yaris(es) from 2006 to 2011 ]. The wiring which is already different is stuck in the wiring place of the cruise control of 2011 models. It was troubled.

hi CTScott,
Are you still selling anymore of your kits? I've brought a rostra kit from amazon and the instructions are confusing. I've followed everything up to the ECM part of the instruction. I have a 2012 Yaris 5D LE. How do i determine whether my car has "CLUTCH ECM HARNESS" or not? Where the heck is the "ENGINE COMPARTMENT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE FIREWALL"

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Rostra is apparently smoking crack on this one. Installation on a 3rd gen Yaris does not require popping the hood for any reason other than to temporarily disconnect the battery for safety reasons.

My kits are still for sale and for 3rd gens I also stock the little cover for the side of the steering wheel, so no drilling is even required.

good to know i've wasted ALOT of time opening everything trying to figure that part out. Everything about their stupid instruction seems wrong.
1)"For 2012 Yaris: Using a "Torx" Driver, push in the 3 snap rings to disengage it from the 3 pins" - After checking out this site, i realized a flat head screw driver should do the trick.
2)The template cut didn't make sense - 1.5 inch hole saw is not needed. It was simpler to just use a razor to cut out a rectangle for the piece. As for the 1/4 pilot hole, i never understood what it was for.
3) If you're right about the "BLACK ECM CONNECTOR C20 IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE FIREWALL", that's more wrong info from them for page 6 (steps 1-3)

Their instructions are the worst (http://www.rostra.com/manuals/250-1836_Form5370A.pdf). This was suppose to be specifically for the 2012 yaris. I see that you have also mentioned similar instructions within the forum matching theirs on page 7 (steps 5 to 7).

Do i still need to do this? BTW, can you PM me on how to buy from you?

The page 7 info is completely wrong for a 2012. The 2012+ are all prewired. The only thing that would have to be done is to install and plug in (connector is present) the clutch switch for a manual transmission Yaris.

So, for 2012+ just install the stalk and you're done for an auto. For a manual, also install the clutch switch. All wiring is present, so it is just a matter of plugging them in.
