High Mileage Maintenance
New poster here. Glad for any help from more experienced mechanics/members.
We have a 2006 Yaris with 140k miles on it. Have done very little to it other than Oil, Brakes, and Tires. Had to replace spiral cable early on, later reimbursed after Toyota recall. Also a seatbelt failed. Any recommendations from Members for service items to keep her running? Brake fluid? Transmission fluid flush? Anything particular to watch out for for? |

Search the forum for the control arm bolt issue. I'd recommend replacing the bolts now before it's too late.
I agree w/ Jack Black, clean and re grease the brake sliders on the caliper and re adjust the star nut on the brake shoes so you only have 2 or so clicks on your e brake, makes a big difference is brake bite when stopping. The other thing i'd do is replace or inspect the exhaust donut gasket that connects the mid pipe to the exhaust header. When you're down there replace the 2 spring bolts as well. This will ensure you avoid further problems down the road if you ever need to replace the parts due to failure

Low maintenance cars.. Do a coolant change.. Brake fluid flush. And spray the underside with Fluid Film if it isn't undercoated come winter. Rust is what will kill it if you live in the north east, not anything engine related.
Oh and change the trans fluid if you haven't but don't flush it. |

It's nice that you don't have to worry about changing a timing belt/chain with these cars.
