Dad thinking of replacing 2001 mit montero with 2010 Taurus.

I'm hoping to see what you guys think of the redisigned taurus?

My dads montero just had the tranny go out and an huge oil leak and we are thinking its time for something new.

Since my dad is a vetaran he is eligible to purchase the car at ENCS( Exchange new car sales)

I went to the lot today to check out the options and saw they had 1 2010 taurus SEL(new 0 miles) with a listed MSRP of $30,000

We are going to the lot tomorrow morning to see if we can snag a deal since the car is losing value already from being a 2010.

What price seems reasonable to offer to these guys?
also what share your thoughts on the taurus.

this is the actual pic of the car we are interested in

its the SEL trim but not the one with the full options like moonroof or blis

I'm sure its FWD since the awd model comes with the more expensive limited trim.

I personally like the new Taurus for a larger car. They come a great distance from the old ones.

I loved the montero until she started giving us these problems, today the shop thats repairing the tranny called and said that it has a clogged catalic or something(don't know much about cars when it comes to mech) and that she is cranking but doesn't start.

today I went to the lot but the manager wasn't there so we re-scheduled for friday.

also I have my eye on a 2010 mazda 6 (new 0 miles) going for around 22k ( the i touring trim)

I'd go with the mazda I've heard the direct injected engine in the taurus has a tendency to carbon the intake valves as do all direct injection engine's ive seen. I'd rather go with a fusion if you wanted a ford thats a pretty sharp looking car.

I drove a new Fusion SEL V6. It was a really nice and comfortable car. Had a good bit of room and was comfortable and peppy.

Well we cant buy the car, turns out my father is going to be sent to miami(was informed at work today) in september and he said he would fix the montero and buy the car at miami.

the tranny was just fixed and the leaks were some worn rubber joints.

so, whats left is to get her running again, she wont start right now and I think it could be a clogged catalytic converter( I have an error code on my OBDII scanner)

but back on topic we test drove a mazda 6 today, it felt like a dream, it has leather, push start, bose speakers, blutooth, damn it makes the montero feel cheap :/
