Cluster swap?

Hello,

I was just curious about this idea. I have a 2010 Yaris, Australian model NCP90 2NZ, and it has a digital dashboard in it. Whilst I like the digital dash, I can't deny I miss the analouge style dashboard.

Is it possible to take a digital dashboard like mine and swap it with an analouge one (one with actual gauges in it). Mine has both a tachometer (displayed as a bar) and the speed in KM/H (displayed as digital digits)

Thanks in advance!

Yes it is. You would need one from another Australian or Japanese market Yaris, as the connectors on the those markets are on the opposite sides from Yaris for the rest of the world. You would also want one of the same year or newer to make sure that it supports the same features (ABS, traction control, etc.)

Thanks for the fast reply, CTScott!

Will the cluster know the amount of milage, or will I need to get one with similar milage on it ?

I think I can get an analouge cluster for about $150, $200 but asides from wrecking yards, do you have anywhere else you would suggest to search for such a thing ?

Also, is it hard or simple to change the cluster out ?

Thanks :)

Swapping the cluster is very easy--just a few interior panels that pop off and a few screws.

The mileage is stored in the cluster, so you get whatever the new cluster has. I don't know if CT has altered a non North American unit before, but I know he can change the US and Canadian clusters. For a small fee, of course.

if it is good to change the odometer with odometer correction kit on the cluster instead of installing a new one?
