Any rear shocks out there interchangeable with Yaris? - Toyota Yaris Forums

Hey all,
I have a set of 150 mm rear springs and don't want to resort to zip ties etc, anyone know of a shorter length rear shock that will work with the yaris? I.E- 07-08 Honda Fit? Older bmw's etc. Thanks in advance

e46 fits

you still messing with those dampers? the Yaris ones might be longer but mine handle 130mm springs just fine for 8-10 months thus far

Check with Micro Image about the Tokico HTS rear shocks, in most applications they are shorter than stock.

Buy the rear shocks out of any decent coilover kit and you can adjust the travel for shorter springs. Megan, for example.

As per my knowledge e46 are not shorter than the Yaris so better bring the vehicle to any car care center they will give you a better advice and will fix it immediately.

Will fitting E46 rear shocks offer any benefits?
i.e. better comfort, handling, etc.?
I can source them (OEM Sachs Super Touring) dirt cheap here.

And will there be any disadvantages when paired with front stock struts?

Quick update, received the e46 rear shock from Megan it is identical to the yaris shock despite the fact Megan website says the e46 shock is 170mm in length and yaris is 250mm

LOL yea they probably mean the e46 is 170mm in length and the yaris damper can adjust from 170mm to 250mm lol

the e46 damper doesnt adjust like the Yaris? Return it to them

ive been running function form type 2 e46 rear shocks for a while now, the higher rate valving is great if your going to go with stiffer springs than the megan shocks will allow you. right now im running 500lb springs in the rear and the car rotates awsome around the cones while never really losing grip like the standard megans even on the highest setting.

I am looking for a shorter shock that can hold the spring in place, are the function and form coilovers able to go lower than the megans?

why does that bother you so much? I run 130mm springs on the normal megan struts without any problem, nothing has ever popped out and the suspension works perfectly. The damper slows the descent and release of tension so slowly that you shouldnt ever have a damper fully extended and the spring sitting unweighted. Are you offroading or something?

If you can point to a real life Yaris spring falling out, I'll be very surprised.

With my swaybar going uo steep angle driveways I get 3 wheel motion which is what is prompting me to be concerned about the spring falling out. 1.5 are you using a rear swaybar?

The 3 wheel motion is actually what Garm and I are referring to as the reason NOT to worry. Your car only allows 3 wheels to touch the ground because the damper is doing its job and slowing the descent of the spring and valve so much that the wheel is partially off the ground, that same process is keeping the spring pretty much taught under the weight of the car, yes if your car remains suspended for some time then eventually the weight of the car may cause the damper to fully extend, but again, when would you be in the air for long periods of time unless jacking up the car or jumping ramps?

I guarantee you I'm using shorter, stiffer springs than any of you (10k rear) and I can't imagine one falling out. My car 3-wheels in autocross; no issues.

Nor can anyone give an example of one falling out (see post #13).
