Anyone installed one of thebarber's HID kits in a sedan?
Mine doesn't freaking fit. Now I can't use my car so pardon me if I'm in a sour effing mood.
I spent all this time working on this and now I can't even use my freaking car at all. The projector housing thing is too big so the lens won't go back on. The projector itself looks different from Brian's tutorial. It doesn't fit that well and I had to do some slight modifications to get it to even go in there. However, now the lens doesn't fit back on. As you can see below the projector is running into this part of the housing. Which means that this thing won't slide up over it the way it's supposed to. So has anyone else done one of these? Before I go to cutting up my freaking lens reflector whateverthecraps I want to know if someone's got one of these to work.

If someone just has whatever flipping projector piece thing that Brian used in his tutorial I'd be fine. I just don't know where to freaking buy that piece.

Is that just the reflector that is now painted black? I've done these on a few hatches, but not a sedan, personally.
It looks like you need to trim the reflector for the projector housing to fit in the headlight. If you trim the reflector: will it screw up the mounting hardware of the reflector? Will the lense fit over it all if the projector is seated properly? I feel your pain as I flat-rated a price on some gen1 Sunfire headlights at Christmas. I had to do MAJOR modification for the smaller version of the projectors to fit deep enough to close the lense....but I digress.

The reflector and all that jazz is painted black. I'd have to trim that piece in the 3rd pic, but I don't know how far it needs to be trimmed and what repurcussions that could possibly have. I'm somewhat hesitant to do that because if I just had a projector that would fit this would be negated. Brian didn't mention having to trim that thing (that I saw) in his tutorial so I know somewhere, some projector is there that will work.
I'm just frustrated that I can't use my Yaris. I have my pickup but the AC doesn't work and it doesn't get anywhere near 32mpg, heh. Does whatever source you got this kit from originally have a replacement part shop or something where I could get just the projector piece?

If you find a way to get a hold of Brian let me know. I have attempted here, on MI, by email, and by phone with no response.

Seriously considering just bailing on this entire idea and buying another set of factory headlights.

I have the G1 version of the bolt on projectors. I had to mark and trim off the piece of the reflector bowl where the shroud hits. I'm thinking you have to do the same.

I bought these some time in 2010 (yeah I procrastinated that long) so I'm not really sure what gen these are.

I believe those are the G3 ones. The G2 never made it into production.

G5's are smaller than the G3's, but I don't have any kicking around. Itd be a bit of a wait too.
I'll dig out the link, but you can get some OEM replacements on eBay for about $150.

Would these work? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hi-New-G5-2x...6957ba&vxp=mtr
Also are bulbs available for this? I don't really want to have to buy new projectors every time I change bulbs.

They might, buy you may still need to trim/shave down the shrouds.

Hmm thanks for that link Kaotic. I had been looking at the TRS kits a day or two ago. I think that's what I'm going to go with. It's fairly expensive compared to these ebay ones but I feel better buying from a known reputable source than some of these sketchy chinese ebay companies.

Is the only difference between the H1 and the D2S the type of bulb?
