Rear fog light always on

Hi
I have a 2002 1,5 ts, 106bhp yaris.
For some time now my rear fog light has been switched on, both whith the ignition switched on and off.
I tried to check the fuses, but that seems okay. (Does anybody know exactly which fuse to check?)
It seems also that my front fog lights stopped working, almost the same time my rear light turned on.

Does anybody have a clue as to what might be wrong?

Thank you very much in advance for any answers.

Does you Yaris have daytime running lights, as the way the rear fog is wired is different for DRL versus non DRL Yaris?

OK. The rear fog light is fed from the front fog light relay, which is the relay stuck to the left side of the under dash fuse panel. I would start with pulling that relay out and slapping it against a hard surface with you hand. That will unstick the relay contacts if they are stuck. See if that makes the rear then not stay on with the car off.

For the fronts, I would suspect that the bulbs are burnt out.

I can't swear on it for Norway, but in Germany for instance, front fogs and rear fog light can be switched independently from each other.

This is a first gen, not a second gen, so the wiring is a bit different. The way this is wired, if you turn on the switch for the rear, the fronts are automatically turned on as well, but the fronts can be on without the rear.

Tanks, i'll try that.
I think the relay-solution may apply to the front fog as well, cause its not the bulbs, it wont switch on at all...
Again, thanks for the possible solution.

Just one more question.

Shouldnt the fog light be turned off when i remove the relay?
I've removed, and slapped every relay in the under-dash fusebox.
But the fog light remained turned on all the time...

thank you again for any advice/suggestion.

The relay is mounted to the side of the fuse box (like it was an afterthought). Are you sure you pulled that one?

I've pulled all the relays i can see, but none of them made the light turn off.

Once again, thank you (and in advance for more tips)..

The diagram below shows where the relay should be on your right hand drive Yaris:

Sounds about right. Also, I was referring to regulations, not particular models of cars. Rear fog lights are mandatory in many European countries ( I wanna say all of them, but I'm not sure), whereas front fog lights are optional.

Now depending on manufacturer, there are differences on how you can run front fogs in connection with main headlights. VW, BMW and Benz factory front fogs are switched so they turn off when you turn on high beams, but you have turn on at least the parking lights.
Renaults are wired to turn the rear fogs off when you restart he car, so you don't drive around blinding people behind you for weeks after you drove through some fog ;)
