Adding rear air outlets?
Hi,
I've been thinking about adding air outlets under the front seats for the back seat passengers :) That wouldn't be a big thing, an old vacuum cleaner pipe is hanging around somewhere here... ...granted there is a blind plate at the end of the heating box where in cold area spec cars these pipes are attached. I've seen something like that in a manual some time ago. Can someone confirm/refute that? |

Our USDM Yaris have them. They are flat ducts that run under the front seats.

A PTC heater is missing, too - takes quite a while until I get warm air due to the efficient engine (I've already been thinking about fitting in a 12V electric heater (building a circuit which controls the heater and e.g. lets it only run if the alternator can charge the battery is no problem for me)). The point is: Do I have to drill two holes into the box (would not do this as it would be a pain in the a§§ and hard to revert) or is there a plate which I can unscrew and puncture in a more convenient place? |

As all of your Yari (I assume) are from a 'northeastern' distributor. My Yaris (fortunately) has the same package you have, as I purchased in RI (and the car was delvered to another dealership...same owner IIRC...in CT). Before the Gen 3 yaris was unveiled, I (from spy photos...even taking the cladding into account) thought I might not like the design. Given this, I thought I might get a 2011 (new). I was told (don't know if this was/is true) that I'd have to go outside the area served by distributor Gulf States Toyota to get a Yaris that had the optional Cold Weather Package (with those ducts to 'aid' the rear passengers). I tried to locate a Yaris with the CWP in Texas, but I think the closest ones I found were either in northern TN, or in KY.
