2010 Yaris- what is this part?

Picked up a 2010 Yaris today.

Wondering what this part is on the engine? See image circled in red.

Tried looking at the Village Toyota website but no luck.

Dealer cleaned the engine before I took the car home and there was a greasy film on this...wondering if they left some soap/engine cleaner on it. Wondering if its part of the emissions system? have never seen a 'cannister' like that on any engine I've worked on, unless it was hidden and not as visible?

Will prob have more questions in upcoming weeks. Thanks.

Sorry, I dont know if this is the right subforum for this question? I have no idea what generation Yaris the 2010 is. Currently have a 2003 Echo....will be selling that off soon replaced by this 2010. Thanks.

Yea it’s just one of 3 engine mounts. The other two mounts are under the engine and not visible in the photo. That greasy film you refer to probably is just some engine cleaner that got leftover. It’s no concern, it won’t cause you any issues. The rubber across the top of that part is basically just a cover. Underneath the rubber layer is where you would see the internal pieces of the motor mount. The mount is not a solid piece. It’s designed in such a way that it absorbs engine vibrations to make for a smoother ride as you drive the vehicle. In some vehicles, the engine mounts are obvious in plain sight. Others, not so much.

Thank you.

Interesting. My cycle has similar mounts but they are small & you definitely cannot see them as they are under the engine or on the lower side! This was so big and at the top of the engine bay it looked peculiar.
