Find your engine air filter. Directly off the air filter housing, mounted on the air ducting leading to your engine will be the MAF. Look for a single wiring harness. 2 screws hold the sensor in the air ducting. Use this video >>> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dFKS...annel=Channel1
Merry Xmas from the USA. |

I do not see it on the video either. I do not know the engine type you have but if it is there, it has to be between the airbox and the throttle body.
Therefore I would definitely start with removing the airbox completely. My Yaris 2007 2SZFE engine looks different but the airbox is similar. There are just 4 screws I think and then a bit of twisting off a rubber hose and it is gone. At this moment you should be able to see the throttle body flap. The MAF thing must be visible as well. It may also be connected to the airbox you have just pulled out so be careful about potential wires. If you still cannot find MAF then find the engine code as it would certainly require some deep Internet investigation. BTW if you can already see the throttle body it is good to clean it with throttle body cleaner. DO NOT OPEN IT WITH YOUR FINGERS OR ANYTHING - that would jam the ECU. To open it safely, turn the key to "1" position (dashboard wakes up but engine does not start) and have someone step on the throttle pedal (I use a big axe to keep the pedal pushed :D ). Opened throttle body buzzes a bit, do not worry, it is normal. |

If its the 1.0 1KR-FE engine then unless Toyota recently added it (I have a 2006 variant of this engine) then it doesn't have a MAF sensor. It has a MAP sensor in the intake manifold. As far as i'm aware these are more reliable than MAF sensors and do not fail or become dirty like MAF sensors do. All i can suggest is plugging a scan tool in and reading some codes/live data to see if you can pin point the source of your idle problems.
