Exclamation Strange problem... can anyone help...

Hi all

today i serviced my Toyota Yaris 1SZ-FE.
It has 39000 miles.

I changed spark plugs, oil, oil filter, pollen filter and air filter.

Used NGK spark plugs with 0.8mm gap.
Used 5W-30 oil
Used WIX WL7131 oil filter.
Used WIX airfilter.
Used WIX Pollen Filter

then went on to start the engine. the management light came on.
i figured that i have added bit too much oil so reduced it.
and then tried again and this time everything look normal.

however one thing, i think the engine is getting heated excessively. I saw bit of smoke from the cylinders. so switched off the engine instantly.

Took the Engine oil dip stick to check oil again and there was bit of steam or smoke again.

but oil seems to be topped up properly. there is no strange sound from the engine.

i do not know for the fact if something is wrong but i suspect there is. i didn't drive the car again.

can someone shed some light on all this...

please.

Immediately after shutting an engine off, a bit of smoky looking blowby fume in the crankcase is normal. Smoke coming "from the cylinders" is not. I wonder if the spark plugs were properly tightened, or if they could be leaking around the threads and gaskets. The problem's most certainly not that you're not using a synthetic oil.

Maintenance light is on because the person who did the service didnt reset it after he did your "maintance" The smoke is more than likely oil spilled oil burning off. The valve cover is designed if you spill oil while filling it there is a channel that lets the oil spill down back of the valve cover. Which is also the side of the motor where the exhaust manifold is so its hot in that area. I would not be too concerned. Just follow the maint light reset procedure and recheck the smoke in a day more than likely it will be gone.
