The total tab was $237 with $179 labor.

Toyota Customer Service picked up the labor.

Well that is a bit of good news!

$179 for labor, what would that be 2 hrs? I thought it was just a simple switch out, replace, refill.

Glad there was no damage done, you acted quickly.

Bronsin, what did they pick it up under, extended warranty? Drive Train warranty? Or just this is an extremely rare thing?

"Extremely rare" meaning - uncommon but not unbeknownst to us. I heard a service manager say the shorts/fires in the drivers side window switches was caused by people washing their cars too aggressively and getting water down there causing a short. I suppose we would have heard of this by now however.

Kinda helps balance out some of the 'bad karma' from your early water pump failure.

That's a pretty lame excuse, water gets into the door panels on all cars.

The service adviser gave me Toyotas customer service number. I called it and explained the situation to them. They got back to me the next day saying they would pay for the labor. Techincally they said the oil pressure sensor fell under the 36,000 mile/three year part of the warranty.

If you have an issue where something goes and its not warranteed, sometimes you can call CS and they will try to make it right.

Its worth a shot. The service adviser put me onto it.

Well at least they paid that because it fell under the warranty. If it fails on anyone out of warranty, I would advice them to discuss it with the service manager and call Toyota customer service. They probably know all about it and have an interest in making it right. (so you buy another Toyota!)

Yeah but having things fail on a Toyota is a novel experience for me!
