I know its been asked before..but i still don't know

I apoligize for asking, because i know its been answered, but I still don't understand how to take of the window crank to access the front speakers in my liftback. pictures would be extremely helpful, or a step by step, just make sure a not smart person could understand it.

Thanks in advance.

You need to wedge something between the handle and that white/opaque spacer. I used a zip tie last night and it worked fine. Just work a zip tie in there and twist it around, putting pressure on the center of the crank. Eventually you'll pop the little retention clip out enough to take it out and get the handle off.

It'll take a while to get it the first time, but once you do it once it'll make more sense.

Heres a lil drawing. You put the rag between the handle and the door panel. This will catch that clip and push it off.

Side profile view...Clip goes around part of the crank handle something like that to keep it from easily pulling off. Thats why you must remove the clip. Othewise, you pull the whole door panel and window regulator all out.

You kinda have to try to look hard behind the handle to see where the ends of the clip are then put your rag on the ends so it will push it off. If you just shove the rag behind there and go for it you might be pushing in on. Once you figure it out its a breeze.

The clip ends are facing the crank, so slipping the rag between the crank and the door panel grabs the ends. Then wrap the crank axis, and pull the rag back and forth until it pops out. (mind you, when it does pop up, IT REALLY does... I had to chase it!)

I think I figured out the problem on your drivers window...

The wiring was all wrong

Haha, oh I had the wiring right. Somewhere between me testing it and getting the driver's side door panel back on I must have jarred a connection loose somewhere. It'll be fun following wire around my car later. Ohhhh yeah baby, real fun.

I'm not sure if this has been clearly pointed out, but the rag goes between the plastic spacer and the actual crank. After 15 minutes trying between the door and the spacer, it came to me that maybe they meant between the crank/spacer! Could just be I wasn't reading directions or wasn't getting it, but good to know! I'm in my car doing it right now, rag trick works awesome!

PS: How does it go back on? lol

easiest is to use the tool, even a monkey could use it and pop off the crank in 30 seconds... that includes chuggin a beer.

on that note, I noobed it up and the clip flew into oblivion... the replcaement clips @ advance dont fit properly, sux.

It took me about 2 seconds once I figured it out! Use a screw driver to lift the handle away from the white washer. Place the rag so the edge starts in the handle area. Pull the rag around the shaft, away from the handle. The end of the clip, which is pointed towards the handle end, will get caught and the clip will just pop out!
