Thumbs up 2014 LTA Land Speed Harvest Event

Well the Harvest Event has come and gone. Unfortunately a little too fast (pardon the pun) since we lost Sunday due to thunderstorms. I ran really well with the new setup and it runs like a top. I was safety limited so couldn't take her all the way up as well as the fact that Saturday was riddled with hefty cross winds in several points in the course upwards of 15mph. This hampered many vehicles that traditionally run 2-4mph faster. Harvest is usually a little smaller in entrants due to Bonneville running their events at roughly the same time, Speed Week, etc.

What was discovered with my current setup is that we just plain ran out of time. I set 12 records on Saturday. This includes breaking records in engine sizes above the 1.5L. Records were set in the F (2.016 to 3.014 L), G (1.524 to 2.015 L), and H (1.016 to 1.523 L) classes. Top speeds were almost 146mph in the mile and 155mph in the mile and a half. I could have run faster however like I said I needed to stay within certain boundaries to not be black flagged. My current top speed with the stock throttle body is almost 170mph.

We found that I reached a bottleneck with the stock throttle body at around 15psi. We turned it up to 18psi and actually slowed down a hair. I believe that it was due to running hotter with not being able to provide the air needed properly at 18. The plan was to install my new TB Sunday and run again with confidence that it will really make a large bump in performance and allow me to run into the mid 20s for boost without issue. We were rained out instead. Getting the TB and also the new TRD Trans Mount would be critical to safe driving going higher boost.

Depending on how things go with me getting sponsors this may have been my last event. I pretty much did it as a tribute to my dad anyway, but I have reached the max they will allow without all the gear in place.

I will have video and hopefully some more photos to add. I was pretty busy making runs as I didn't realize, but I made 9 runs. As an interesting tidbit I burned 5 gallons of C12 on the 9 runs. Each run is the 2.5 miles total on the track and then the 2.5 miles back on the return lane. This equates to roughly 8mpg. I was the last one of the day at 18:35 which was a total 281 for the day! We started at around 0900. That averages out to almost 30 runs per hour. Pretty damned good I think.

Oh yeah, almost forgot. I have made so many modifications now I have been moved out out Production Supercharged and into Blown Gas Super Street. This will actually afford me additional modifications when I do race again.

I do need to give a shout out to the following sponsors. Without them this would not have been possible:

MicroImageOnline

Granite State Dyno and Tune

JRT Customs

Modern Automotive Performance.com

And local sponsors:

Yorks of Houlton Toyota
Griffeth Honda
Boulevard Graphix

Thanks!

I believe in the 112-118mph range. Might have broken 120, but not sure just yet.

This video was from my 155 pass. I still build speed fine. At least with my setup the car is stable and shows no flighty behavior.

I just updated the OP with one of the videos. Having these actually help a great deal along with data logs to see where the tune could have been improved. Case in point would be the pull in 2nd gear. I have a little bit of hesitation and I believe that is in the drop in air psi into the intake manifold coming out of 1st gear.

honestly I am not sure. it could have because the bumper is a single piece and the diffuser built into the rear bumper could possibly help. the rear bumper however could be hampering me aince I don't have a roll pan to keep the air from scooping inside it. it would be interesting to have a camera record from the underside if I could do it without peeling it off....haha
