Glove box door hinge
After 10 years of service, the glove box door hinge has broken. Has anyone else gone to the trouble of repairing it? A replacement door is $185 from Toyota —not worth it for an old car. This is the upper door on the passenger side, aka "NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL BOX DOOR SUB-ASSEMBLY".
I had to remove the entire dashboard to access the screws. Now that I'm looking at it, I'm impressed that it even lasted this long, because the springs that hold the door open put tremendous force on the narrow bits of plastic. I tried superglue, but after just a couple of open/close cycles the glue failed. |
