Larger oil filter

Hey guys, doing another oil change soon.

I was browsing through Amazon and found that the Puralator Pureone filter for the Yaris 14476 is ridiculously expensive for such a small filter. However, after some research, I found a compatible and cheaper(weird), but taller filter 14477. The 14477 was used on Camry.

I compared the specs from the Puralator site, same dimensions and ratings, but taller. So it seems very comparable.

My question is, anyone have been running larger filter on the Yaris? (I know more oil per oil change, but worth it)

Thanks!

My wife has a Camry and I have the Yaris so whenever possible I buy the 14477 so I can use them on both.

I seriously doubt using the larger filter is going to do anything for the Yaris longevity wise however. Its just more convienent having one size that fits all.

Also IMHO save your money and buy the standard Purolator filter. I seriously doubt the Pureone is any benefit either.

Walmart has Purolator filtesr at the best price I have seen now that their store brand SuperTech no longer makes them.

Great! Thanks for your input! I've been using the Puralator Classic and they seem to have a great build quality.

Though I wished Toyota would have gone with the 20x1.5mm filter thread. Then it would've been compatible with my other Honda/Acura cars. Same filter dimensions as the Camry, but diff thread size.

I use the larger PL14477 without issue. The extra amount of oil needed is negligible. I buy them from Advance Auto Parts when they're on sale for $5 and then use a coupon

The Walmart near me in Cherry Hill NJ has them for less than $4.

Yes they do.

Which is meaningless any oil filter will do as long as you change the oil regularly.
