Which HID to get: Bi-Xenon or Hi/Lo Beam? - Toyota Yaris Forums

Sorry for the noob questions, but i dont know which one is better. All i know is the Hi/lo HID uses a halogen for the hi-beam, and does that mean the bi-xenon will just use one bulb for both hi and lo beam? Also which temp would you recommand? Im thinking of getting 6000K. any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I got the H4-2 (hi/low) kit. High's are pretty much useless. My fogs are brighter than they are. As for the bixenon, I believe there's a reflector piece that slides up to reflect the light to a "high beam" projection. You might want to double check that. As for color temp, I got 6000k as well, it's a little blue. I like the look of 5500k, but I couldn't find an HID kit with that temp. 5000k is more white, and would probably be best if you're looking for best illumination (although any HID will be better than stock, just don't get too crazy, like 10000k +).

Anything under 6000K is a-ok in my book.

I'd get hi/lo HID's, with the light output those things have on low, you'll rarely ever use your high beams.

Ya High beam is useless for visual needs. Its only for getting attention. In order for it to work properly you'd need to lower your lights ridiculously low in the low beam setting.

hmm.. i did not know that high beam is that useless in HID. so a hi/lo kit would be just as good as a bi-xenon kit as the hi-beam is rarely used. is there any functional or colour difference between a bi-xenon or a regular hi/lo kit?

the color difference is that the bi-xenon would have the constant color that your running your hids at for example:

FOR BI-XENON
white low = 5000k and white high= 5000k

FOR Regular hi/lo kit
white low = 5000k and high stock = stock headlight color

I have the bi-xenon kit myself and the overall appearance is nice if you care about the color of your high beams, and you're willing to pay a little extra. Hope that answer's your question.

I have 8000K Hi/Lo's. I've never tried Bi-xenon, but with Hi/lo's you only use your high beams to flash your brights at other people to get their attention. The actual HID Low Beam is super bright compared to the Halogen high beam.

hi/low....in canada we need day time running lights so i figure ..during the day keep it on high beam which will shut off the fogs..then set it it low at night plus fogs hid..= brightness.. good luck!

just disable the drls...if you dont have factory fogs, just pull the drl module, thats what i did

so you have an RS? then just cut the power wire to the DRL's (i did that on my XRS) and install a switch for them...

so you must disable DRL with either bi-xenon or hi/lo beam HID installed on car? when i get my HID, im thinking of switching the DRL to my fog lights. is that possible? im probably gonna go to a shop and get everything done, not sure how much it would cost. any idea?

Is there a solution for retaining the DRL's when installing the HID's? I really want to add HID's to the Yaris, but seeing as it's my girlfriend's car, she'll want the DRL's to still work.

I don't normally modify my vehicles but after owning a bunch of cars with HID's I can't stand the halogens on our Yaris... so hoping to find a clean solution that is still legal up here in Canada.

you can switch wire fr drl to low beam just remember not to flash ur high beam cos i think if shuts off the fogs when you do that..rule #one you cannot have hid going on and off due to the ignite..
