No Warranty on Jack - Use at your own risk

Hi everyone. I found this out today, and thought it important enough to share.

Toyota does not warranty the standard jack that comes with the 2018 Yaris iA. I had the jack fail while it was being used by a police officer. The jack bent and was unable to fully raise the car. Toyota offers no warranty, but will replace the bent jack part (not the entire jack) in the name of 'customer satisfaction'.

I'm just going to get a small bottle jack and keep that in the trunk, and I strongly recommend that every Yaris iA owner do the same. Don't take silly risks with a weak jack.

Thanks for the heads-up I had to change the tire on my wife's car just last week and that scissor jack they supply is a joke(also a Toyota). Some pointers I've learned over the years:

1. Keep a hi-visibility vest with your spare along with a powerful flashlight/lantern(flat tires can happen any time-day or night).
2. I keep a small 2x4 with my kit to chock a wheel on the good axle. Those scissor jacks will bend if the car shifts weight.
3. Loosen the lugs BEFORE raising the vehicle. A metal pipe a couple feet long can be used as a breaker-bar for the usually-tiny lug wrench if you have one in your custom kit.
4. Every once in a while check your spare's tire pressure. Check the others while you're at it!
5. Finally, if you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself call your insurance company, AAA, or local authorities.

I'm not saying you did anything wrong. Just thought it would be a good reminder to everyone since we were already talking about the jack

Never used the jack. No flat on the road and I use floor jacks to rotate tires. Good information.

Wouldn't you still have the new car roadside assistance??
