Brokerage/Duties with USPS from US
Hey all,
I just bought a Fujita CAI from wesellcarparts (awesome customer service)...it was shipped May 24 and it arrived today May 29 (wow)!!! My only problem is that I have never ever paid brokerage/duties for USPS shipments before. Perhaps because I have ordered over eBay and the sellers have always put "gift" on the package (it has never been at my request). Has everyone in Canada also paid through the nose for this? The amount is $95.26. I should have shipped it to Ogdensburg. DOH! Cheers, C |

Please read more carefully. He said USPS, not UPS. USPS is the United States Postal Service, meaning he already tried the "regular" mail.

You'll pay out the nose no matter the carrier if it is not designated as a "gift". This is because they would then consider it part of business and therefore taxable.

I remember the GB on the tails, guys paid alot extra for duty. I either drive to US or buy from within Canada. Sometimes you can't get things but that duty sucks, and marking gift doesn't always work. If there ever is a US/Can meet in Windsor/Niagra falls area, I'll ask some Bros from US to haul some stuff for me.

Yeah ok. Thanks everyone for the confirmation on this. I was hoping the price would just be the price in USD...the Canadian $ is so strong right now.
Cheers and thanks for the replies... Carvin' |

USPS is the way to go shipping stuff from the US. They charge $7 + Duty/GST. UPS rapes you on their ground service, $40 + Duty/GST + 20% of Duty/GST or something stupid. UPS air is more expensive, but for high value items, cheaper than UPS ground, since they waive all brokerage and % fees, and you just pay GST/Duty.
