My 5 speed manual now has 16,000kms on her and the average on the computer is down to 5.9liters per 100 kms. She is getting better or I'm learning how to drive it.

Congrats! The 3-door hatches really are sexy beasties, aren't they?

5-speed manual, FTW.

My Yaris is equipped with the 1.0 3 Cyl engine........... 69 hp. Currently the computer is showing an average of 5.2 l/100 km (should be like 43 mpg.) I am fine with that although the current gas price is as high as 2 $ per LITER. (Liter = Quarter Gallon ?!)

Hows the peep with a 3 cylinder 1.0 litre engine? It's been a while since I've been in Germany but $2.00 a litre doesn't surprise me. 5.2l/100kms isn't bad at all for a gas engine.

I agree, the consumption is okay, in terms of peep (performance ?) it's okay when driving alone, considering to buy a 1.33 though to get slightly better performance uphill and on the motorway. You need to revv it a lot, in return the 3 Cyl sound is quite nice in my view.

BTW the fuel economy on a Yaris D4D should be an amazing 60 mpg or so.

I absolutely love it. Not a complaint at all. It's a great little car and I couldn't be happier with my choice.

a lot more than the season will need to be changed before we get some common sense back.

15000 on odometer another dealer synthetic oil change two days ago, fill up today gave me 46.11 MPG. Dealer says my MPG is better than the Priuses that come in as they are only getting 42-43 MPG.

Doesn't surprise me. Most people don't get that the Prius requires a totally different driving style that is totally foreign to most Americans.

Years ago when I worked at the Honda dealer and we had the Insights first roll out I had one customer who drove the car new for a year, and after about 10 months he showed up for a regular service and has a custom tag on his car, "101 MPG" I jumped at the chance to ask him what and how in the world, he said you know you don't have to be in a race to get everywhere.

It was his best average for a trip, but he just cruised on the highway and drove the car like there was an egg under the gas pedal, lol...
