yeah, it was just a concept car for a show, i thought i was kind of interesting,

not sure how practical it would be to have doors like that, maybe it was just to show the interior better, who knows

It is ugly, but it could be used practically.

Now they did take too much out of the car, but my guess is you could make a side panel like that a lot stiffer than a normal door, which means you should also be able to make it lighter as well.

Of course, the top hinges might negate any weight savings.

That hinged door was just for the frankfurt auto show premiere of the Yaris so the auto show viewers could see the interior space of the car, it was not a gullwing concept...
