1NZ-FE engine without cover ?
Noob question
Remove protective plastic disturbs engine, sparks coils ? Rain, dirt etc.. |

I had mine on my Echo and 2 of the plug holes somehow got filled with water(causing a misfire, yes I had dielectric grease on the plug boots). This is a somewhat common problem. Before i put in the 2zr, I had the cover off my 1nz for a couple years and never had any issue water or other wise.

That's kind of weird that the holes filled up. I would have thought any water that got down in there would just evaporate away as the coils and the valve cover/head get pretty hot.

Ya it was weird but I wasn't the first person to have that issue. I actually read about it a year before and then one day started experiencing misfiring. Read the codes, drove it home and when I pulled the coils 2 were full of water.
Strange thing is it wasn't raining that day or the day before. I blew out the water and re applied dielectric grease and never had that issue again
