Front wiper blades, severe corrosion

Just wondering whether any other members of the forum have experienced severe corrosion on their front wiper blades. It first started with just bubbling, but then the paint all eventually peeled off. Started after only about 4-5 years of ownership of the car since buying new in 2008.

I had it and most Yaris's I've seen at work and at church also had the bubbling paint.. Strangely on mine it was only on the left side. So I took it off, sanded down as much paint and that white powder as I could on that part of the wiper, cleaned it with benzine and gave it a few coats of spray-on primer followed by a few coats of spray-on black paint. I made sure to swivel the hinge after it had dried to get to the other small areas and then painted it the same..

I'm not a pro, but it's not the eyesore it used to be and looks good unless you seriously inspect it up close :P

I have the same problem. Aluminum and salt don't belong together.

I sanded this down 2 years ago and repainted, but its coming back out again.

When mine went that way several years ago, I managed to snag a good set of arms at a junkyard. Now I run summer and winter sets of arms.

Yeah, the two yaris' I own both did it in the exact same spot. Toyota wants $80 for each wiper arm. What a joke.

On a somewhat related note one of the best upgrades I've ever done to my car has been to install the Honda wiper blade assemblies. They are far superior performance wise to the ones that the Yaris comes with stock. If I recall correctly one of the blades comes from the Honda Civic and the other one comes from the Honda Fit. The thread that trini_performance has about his driving experience talks about them.
