TRD CAI problem

So today I was wiring my foglights and I was almost finished and I looked down and noticed my TRD CAI broke. I have no idea how it happened. I've had it for about 2 years now. The pics are of the plasic piece in between the two intake tubes underneath the foam. Anyone know what could have caused this?

not 100% sure because of the picture quality but looks like vibration + dry-rot

In the first pic the two black parts are supposed to be one.

Have you taken your car into a shop for anything? Some grease monkey broke the inlet to my stock air box changing the oil(don't ask me how). I highly doubt a genuine TRD part is going to vibrate itself apart in 2 years - especially because I'm pretty sure if you get it installed at toyota its covered under warranty.

Never been to the shop for anything. There is no warranty for the TRD CAI because its for off-road use only. Just checked the TRD website.

Ah, you are correct. I forgot intakes aren't technically legal for smog and stuff, so they aren't warrantied.

Atleast the ones for the Yaris aren't due to not having a carbon trap

ya, so if thats the foam bypass valve thing, just get a silicone adapter to attach the 2 pieces of intake tubing....you dont NEED the bypass valve, just make sure NOT to ford any rivers w/ your yaris
